How to feel that inner glow

Feeling happy and nourishing that inner glow is something we could all stand to do more of. Finding that inner glow isn’t just about eating clean and exercising, it comes from feeling happier and more content with who we are and letting that feeling shine from the inside out. ‘Happiness’ can look different for different people but for one reason or another, it’s not something we always feel. The good news is that there are some simple tricks we can introduce into our daily lives to help us feel more positive and let that inner glow shine.

Make time for yourself

We’ve all heard of the phrase ‘do more of what makes you happy’. It’s a great moto to live by when you’re looking to feel that inner glow. Making time for your hobbies and passions is more than just an indulgence and can go a long way to boosting your mental wellbeing. This doesn’t have to be anything extravagant, it can be as simple as soaking in a warm bubble bath or taking time to read that new bestselling book you’ve meaning to start.

Taking time to do what you enjoy has shown to boost endorphins and your happy hormones. Looking forward to ‘you’ time is a great way to ward off feelings of stress and fatigue. Make sure you make a habit of taking time for yourself to ensure you keep yourself glowing.

Get your body moving

It’s a cliché but increasing our movement and taking daily exercise has the power to make us feel great. Exercise has been shown to decrease feelings of anxiety and stress making us shine from the inside. But exercise has the added benefit of making us literally glow. We’re not talking about the sweat you build up at the gym, this is a glow that is triggered when exercise increases our blood flow creating a rosy glow.

It doesn’t need to be too strenuous either, anything that gets our heart pumping will do the trick. Try some morning stretching to start your day off on the right track. Or take a walk around the block to get your body moving.

Looking at the bright side of life

Sometimes it feels like life is against us and it’s hard to feel that inner glow. It’s important to remain thankful for what you have rather than focus on what you don’t. Gratitude is a powerful emotion, and the more you focus on this feeling the more it will grow. Focusing on the positive things in life will help let that inner glow shine through even when we might not feel our best.

Struggling to feel positive? Try breaking out a smile! The brain has been shown to be unable to tell the difference between a fake smile and a real one. By tricking your brain into thinking you’re smiling, your body will release endorphins which will make you happier for real.

Final thoughts

Finding that inner glow is all about how we look after our physical and mental wellbeing. By feeling great on the inside, we allow that to shine through to the outside. Try prioritising time just for yourself by focusing on a past-time that makes you feel happy and make it a regular habit. Get up and get your heart pumping at least once a day, not only for your physical health but for all those endorphins hormones which will make you feel great. Finally, perspective is crucial if you’re looking to find that inner glow. By having a positive outlook and looking at the brighter side of life, you will encourage a naturally happier you to shine through.
