Golden Turmeric Chai Latte Recipe

Now the cold nights are closing in, you might be in need of a winter warmer. Hot drinks are a must for anyone needing a little pick me up after a long day fighting the elements. Why not get experimental this winter by putting a seasonal spin on your coffee with a Golden Turmeric Chai Latte? Turmeric has been shown to have many surprising health benefits, including acting as a powerful antioxidant and brain food. This will help keep your immunity and mind healthy this winter.

With warming ingredients such as ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, star anise, and vanilla, this drink tastes like winter in a cup and will help to create those cosy seasonal feelings. This recipe does not include coffee so feel free to make this drink in the evenings for a post dinner treat.

Ingredients (serves 2)

1 teaspoon ground turmeric

1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 cinnamon stick or quill

1 whole star anise

1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste

500ml of milk/ milk alternative

Step 1

Combine the turmeric, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, star anise and vanilla in a medium saucepan and gently stir in your milk.

Step 2

Bring milk and spices to a simmer over a medium heat. Once hot, set aside to infuse for 5 minutes.

Step 3

Strain your latte and serve in your favourite winter mug.

Step 4

Get cosy and enjoy your new favourite winter drink!

Turmeric is delicious in drinks and can give you an antioxidant boost to feel great this winter whilst helping to keep your brain active. Feel free to experiment with spice combinations to really make this drink your own. Any winter spices such as fennel and cardamom would be great additions to this recipe.
